We are in the Technological age and this is also the age of intense competition. There are very few top-notch colleges and universities in India (less than 5%) which provide quality education and produce industry-ready technocrats and world-class doctors. The admission into these prestigious colleges is on the basis of an Entrance exam after Std.12 like the JEE, BITSAT, NEET, AIPMT etc. The syllabi is huge (100+ chapters in PCM / PCB) and level of difficulty of questions in these Entrance exams is lofty. There is no guidance available in schools and junior colleges on these Entrance exams and the only 2 options left to the student are either to prepare by self-study or join a professional coaching academy like IIT-P.
It is the observation of the academic think-tank of IIT-P in the past 13 years that coaching a child for JEE or NEET rigorously in 2 years from Std.11 to 12 is possible but a stressful exercise for the student. However, if the student starts preparing for these exams from any of the school years from Std.7 to 10, by studying Science & Maths in a conceptual manner, the entire process of learning becomes enjoyable and stress-free. It is in this context that IIT-P has designed its IIT Foundation Programs called the PRODIGY Programs since 2006.
The right age to initiate the logical cum mathematical thinking process in the child is 12-16 years depending on the emotional maturity of the student. So, the question of when to start the IIT Foundation Program is left to the discretion of the parents & student. In IIT-P, we welcome any reasonably bright student of either Std.7 / 8 / 9 / 10 to do various stages of the PRODIGY Program.
The first stage of the PRODIGY Program is called the PRODIGY JUNIORS Program and is meant for Std.7 & 8 students who will sit together in one classroom. The chief objective of the PRODIGY JUNIORS program is to cultivate deep interest in the subjects of Science & Maths and initiate the student into the analytical thinking process. We also provide orientation to the student for the various competitive exams like MTS, IPM, NSO, Unified Council etc. The subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry & Mental Ability are taught in the PRODIGY JUNIORS Program.
The second stage of the PRODIGY Program is called the PRODIGY SENIORS Program and is meant for Std.9 & 10 students or those who have done the PRODIGY JUNIORS Program. The chief objective of this Program is to initiate the student into the conceptual thinking process. The subjects of Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry are taught with a systematic conceptual approach. The SENIORS Program builds a strong Foundation for JEE studies. It is in this SENIORS Program that the student shall get a flavour of JEE studies and shall also imbibe the right thinking approach.
The third stage of the PRODIGY Program is called the PRE-GRANDMASTERS Program and is meant for any student who has successfully completed the SENIORS Program. In this Program, the student attends Advanced problems solving sessions in the subjects of Maths & Physics only. Chemistry is offered as an optional subject for PRE-GRANDMASTERS students.
The fourth stage of the PRODIGY Program is called the CALCULUS Program and is meant for a Std.10 student who has successfully completed the PRE-GRANDMASTERS Program. In this Program, the student learns the sophisticated branch of Mathematics called CALCULUS which has wide applications in Physics, Chemistry & Engineering.
We advise any sincere Engineering, Medical, Architecture, Design & Bio-Technology aspirant to undergo atleast the first 2 stages of the PRODIGY Program. The remaining stages are optional and subject to the student’s enthusiasm and interest.

PET-2015 will be a 1 hour Multiple Choice questions based test with negative marking. PET-2015 has 25 questions. Each question has 4 choices and only 1 choice will be correct. The correct choice has to be marked on the bubble sheet by darkening it completely. 4 marks will be granted for every correctly answered question. 1 mark will be deducted for every wrongly attempted question. No marks will be granted or deducted for unattempted questions. The medium of PET-2015 will be English only. Thus, the PET-2015 is a 100 marks Test. A score of 35 and above is sufficient to clear the PET-2015 exam and secure admission in the PRODIGY SENIORS Program.
The PET-2015 will be conducted on Sundays, April 12, 19, 26 , May 3, & 10, 2015. The Timings and Venue will be informed at the time of Registration. IIT-P will inform the results of the PET telephonically and / or through email within 2 working days from the date of the Test.
